Keynote

Pulitzer Prize Winner Isabel Wilkerson to Speak at Symposium and Southeast Colloquium

Wilkerson photo

Isabel Wilkerson, author of the acclaimed book The Warmth of Other Suns: The Epic Story of America’s Great Migration, will be the keynote speaker on Friday, March 18, 2011, for the joint luncheon of the Media & Civil Rights History Symposium and AEJMC Southeast Colloquium, both held at the University of South Carolina in Columbia.

The First African American woman to win the Pulitzer Prize in Journalism, Ms. Wilkerson has written what Toni Morrison has called a “profound, necessary” chronicle of the Great Migration, the movement of millions of African Americans from the rural South to the urban North and West in the early twentieth century.

Ms. Wilkerson is the Director of the Narrative Nonfiction Program in the College of Communication at Boston University.
