What are the
lab rules?
1. Absolutely NO drinks
in the lab. It doesn't matter if it is opened or not.
2. Absolutely NO eating in the lab.
3. Please try to keep the noise level to a minimum so as to
not disturb your neighbor.

there a place to save my work to, and it won't be
deleted?
To save your work, drag and
drop into the folder provided on the desktop.

How do I connect
to the class servers?
Click on desktop to select the
finder. From the "go" menu, select "connect to server". Choose
either "cr.jour.sc.edu" or "jclasses.jour.sc.edu". (this
information IS case sensitive)

When I insert media, where
will it appear?
All inserted media will mount
on the desktop. Blank media (i.e. CD's or DVD's) will ask you
what to do. Choose
"open in finder" and it will mount on desktop at
the prompt.

How do I burn my files to
a CD or DVD?
Insert blank media into the
computer slot on side of monitor in lab 3008 or 3012; use the
tray loader in lab 3004. Choose "open in finder" from
prompt. Drag and drop your files onto CD icon. Drag to trash
to burn.

Does the school have color
printers?
There are two color printers; the Xerox 8400DP, solid ink color
printer and the Xerox 7300DN color laser printer using toner.
What paper sizes do the
printers support?
The 7300DN prints letter, legal and tabloid. The 8400Dp prints
letter and legal.
What is the workstation
ID and where is it located?
The workstation ID can be found on the front of the machine
(i.e. 3008-01 or 3012-12).
What do I do when I have
finished using the computer?
Log out of machine when done. Go
to Apple menu and choose "logout".

What do I do when an application
freezes?
Wait for a minute or two. The application
may be processing a command. If that doesn't work, right
click on the application icon in the dock and choose "force quit" from
the contextual menu.
