Prior to joining the faculty in 1993 Zoch, a native of upstate
New York, taught at the University of West Florida and Syracuse
University, and she most recently spent two and a half years
teaching at the University of Miami.
Zoch has experience
in association, not-for-profit and educational public relations,
and has continued her interest in these areas by consulting
for regional and national associations, not-for-profit
organizations and government agencies.
She has published her work in Journalism and Mass Communication
Quarterly, Public Relations Review, Public Relations Quarterly,
Journalism Educator and Small Group Research. She has chapters
in Beyond the Velvet Ghetto, which focuses on women in public
relations; Framing Public Life, in which she critiques media
coverage of the 1994 Susan Smith murder trial; and Public
Relations Theory II, where her focus is on creating successful
media relations. She has also presented her research at national
and international conferences.
Zoch's current research interests
include issues of public relations management, media relations
and communication by nonprofit organizations.
