Doug Wood

Wood is the marketing and communications coordinator for Palmetto Health’s 21 USC-affiliated graduate medical education programs. In addition to doing freelance writing, graphic design and web development, he teaches two classes in the USC School of Journalism, Writing for the Mass Media (JOUR 202) and Graphics for Visual Communications (JOUR 464).

Wood has a wide variety of experience in the allied fields of mass communication, having worked as the special sections editor for a daily newspaper, the founder of his own design and communications consulting firm, and the director of communications for a statewide healthcare company.

Wood earned a bachelor’s degree in mass communication from Auburn University at Montgomery in 1993 and a master’s degree in mass communication management from the University of South Carolina in 2001. He also teaches grammar, technical writing and English composition at the University of Phoenix.
