Professor Ran Wei, China-born, joined the School of Journalism & Mass Communications in Spring 2001. Prior to this, he taught at Chinese University of Hong Kong for five and a half years.

His teaching and research interests include principles of advertising, advertising research, advertising in cultural China, impact of new media technologies and media effects. His publications appeared in International Journal of Advertising, International Journal of Public Opinion Research, Gazette, Journalism & Mass Communication Quarterly, Journal of Broadcast & Electronic Media, Asian Journal of Communication, Media Asia, World Communication, New Media & Society and Telematics and Informatics. He also contributed two chapters to edited volumes on mass media in China and Taiwan.

Dr. Wei will be on sabbatical until July 2008.
