Barry Lewis
Broadcast Engineer

Barry Lewis has worked at the University of South Carolina as a broadcast engineer since 1996. He maintains the television studio, cameras and editing equipment in the School of Journalism and Mass Communications.

Lewis has 28 years of electronic maintenance experience working for the Army and the National Guard. During that time, he served as the avionics maintenance supervisor for the South Carolina Army National guard. He worked on the Army's most sophisticated aircraft, including several types of helicopters and airplanes.

Lewis has extensive experience repairing auto pilot systems, color weather radar systems, and UHF, VHF and FM equipment. His experience in electronics dates back to 1967 when he was an instructor at the Army Signal School at Fort Gordon, Ga.

He's an avid ham radio operator and holds several FCC licenses.
