Sooyoung Cho
Assistant Professor
Advertising and Public Relations Sequence

Dr. Sooyoung Cho joined the USC faculty in the fall of 2005. She teaches in the area of strategic communication with emphasis on public relations.

Dr. Cho's research agenda includes the concept of power in the relationship between public relations practitioners and media professionals and the role of the Internet or Netizens in public relations in building relationships with publics. She has also conducted research about health communication, public relations conflict management, political campaign, agenda-setting effects, and media management.

Prior to joining the SJMC at the USC, Dr. Cho taught strategic communication classes at the Missouri Journalism School as a graduate instructor. She presented numerous papers in the national and international conferences. Her work has been published in Journalism & Mass Communication Quarterly, Public Relations Review, Newspaper Research Journal, Visual Communication Quarterly, Journal of Magazine and New Media Research, and Asian Communication Research and she won top paper awards from the AEJMC and BEA convention.

Dr. Cho has six years of full-time professional experience as a public relations/advertising manager and marketing communication director for three Korean companies where she developed communication strategies for brand advertising and corporate image.

Dr. Cho will be on leave during the Spring 2008 semester.
