The Communications Division of the S.C.
Bar is seeking an intern to assist with public relations
duties.
The Bar is a member and public services organization. We
operate to advance professionalism, justice and understanding
of the law. Being that we are non-profit service based organization,
the Communications Division coordinates with the six divisions
of the Bar to promote services and opportunities to the public
and to our members. This is an excellent opportunity for
the University’s public relation and ad students.
Job Description:
- Research: intern will conduct daily reviews of statewide
print media to find news
that is relevant to members of the legal community.
- Copy editing: intern will edit copy for our Lawyers
Desk Book (reference source for members); our magazines
SC Lawyer and SC Bar News; our online
newsletter, E-Blast; our employee newsletter, Barometer;
press releases; features; editorials; and letters.
- Writing: intern will also be assigned to write
copy for all of the above
mentioned publications.
- Web updating: intern will gain experience
in operating
Web design software (Contribute and Dreamweaver), as they
will have to post our daily press clippings on the Web
site. (no prior experience required or expected)
- Misc.: intern will also assist
the Communications
Director and Assistant with a variety of other tasks including:
event planning, archiving,
processing Lawyers Desk Book orders and
a small amount of administrative work.
Hours:
12-15 hours per week
The division is extremely flexible with the hours the
intern is available to work and understanding that their
primary commitment is to be successful students.
Pay:
$7 per hour
