Summary:Coordinate, implement and work on
projects that will encompass plans for the event season at
the Colonial Center. Assist the Director of Sales & Marketing,
Marketing Manager and Marketing Coordinator in completing
tasks necessary for the overall campaign for the upcoming
show season.
Reports to: Director of Sales & Marketing, Marketing
Manager, Marketing Coordinator
Requirements:
- Working knowledge of Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Photoshop
- Know how to effectively use the internet for research
- Strong writing and communication skills
- Must be assertive, outgoing, creative, hard-working,
resourceful, independent thinker who is greatly interested
in working in Sports/Entertainment Marketing
- This is a unique opportunity to learn what goes into
a comprehensive marketing campaign for a newer building
and full season of events.
Job Duties:
- Research various projects that will require making phone
calls, faxing, emailing searching the internet, and conducting
meetings with various individuals within the market.
- Corresponding with show promoters to gather various information
about upcoming shows
- Interact with marketing and building staff when working
on various projects
- Attend weekly marketing meetings that will be beneficial
in completing tasks
- Represent arena at booths/tables at festivals, fairs,
and other events with high traffic to publicize arena and
events* This requires a few home football games*
- Data entry for Cyber Club
- Go out into community to flyer, poster, create relationships
with various retailers, and get the word out about the
arena
- Work non-traditional hours as tasks warrant
Accountability: Carry out assigned tasks to help
achieve the overall goal of a successful season.

Graphic
Design Internship

Summary: Assist the Colonial Center Marketing Department
in fulfilling graphic design needs as warranted in the department.
Reports to: Director of Sales & Marketing, Marketing
Manager, Marketing Coordinator, Group Sales Manager, Group
Sales Coordinator
Requirements:
- Intermediate to advanced knowledge of Photoshop
- Be able to contribute 20 hours per week.
Job Duties:
- Insert local show information into canned artwork that
comes from the shows.
- Edit ads, i.e. size, shrink, enlarge, etc. as needed.
- Create artwork/ecards for eblasts.
- Create ads for various publications as needed
- Create posters and flyers for various shows as needed.
- Correspond with various publications, i.e. due date,
format needed, who to send it to, etc.
- Work with Marketing and Group Sales in order to complete
tasks.
Accountability: Carry out assigned tasks to help
achieve the overall goal of a successful season.
Note – Will work with USC faculty to try and
arrange credit.

Group
Events Internship

Qualifications:
- College junior, seniors, or graduate students working
for academic credits.
- Able to work in a fast paced environment.
- Strong communications and computer skills required.
- Detail oriented, self-motivated and ability to work
under minimal supervision.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the
following:
- Covering the main Group Events telephone line and acting
as an information guide to clients calling in for information
about upcoming events.
- Telemarketing for events as needed
- Taking show orders as needed and controlling the daily
Box Office order flow
- Mailing tickets with proper collateral materials
- Accompany Group Events Manager on Group Sales calls
- Assist in the building of the Group Sales Database
- Help in researching corporations, scouts, schools, and
other business that may be interested in group sales events
- Help with the creation of Group Sales Packet, Group Sales
Event Planner, and Individual Shows Group Sales Flyers
- Assistance with Direct Mail productivity
- Involved in research and execution of group sales promotions
in the community
- Grassroots flyer (capturing database information/ e-mail
addresses)
- Assist with the creation of Advisory Boards and monthly
meetings
- Set up and send out information for upcoming Advisory
Board meetings
- Set up arena with Food Provider (i.e. Volume Services)
for the upcoming Advisory Board meetings
- Assist the sales staff in any client parties, birthday
parties, and corporate functions before and/or during the
event.

Relations/Communications Internship

Intern Job Duties will include, but are not limited to,
the following:
- Writing press releases and media advisories
- Helping to create and deliver media drops
- Gathering event news clips
- Updating Media lists
- Brainstorming and executing PR event ideas
- Helping in grassroots efforts
- Distributing fliers
- Hanging posters
- Coordinating marketing table at PR events, festivals,
basketball games
- Assisting with Media at events
- Covering the front desk, when needed
The intern will also assist with our How You Doin’?
Customer Service Program:
- Preparing a weekly Newsletter with graphics, customer
service articles, stories of HYD in action, reminders,
and recaps on all events during the week.
- Preparing full-time and part-time Employee of the Month
features and photos to be displayed every month
- Maintaining and increasing the participation of our customer
service program
- Creating HYD questions for “Manager on Duty” forms
- Updating full-time and part-time bulletin boards with
the following:
- Weekly newsletter
- HYD winners announcements
- HYD pictures
- Performing all other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- Must be self-motivated and energetic, with ability to
organize and prioritize
- Excellent communication skills, both oral and written
