EMPLOYMENT>>
Faculty members with strong professional contacts are actively
involved in helping students find positions either before
or after graduation.
The school maintains a database of part-time and full-time
jobs advertised for students and alumni of the School.
Businesses and organizations post openings as they become
available.
Recruiters, particularly in the newspaper field, visit the
college one or more times a year to interview students for
full-time jobs.
Workshops on career planning and job search are conducted
by the School, several student journalism and mass communications
organizations and the University. |

INTERNSHIPS>>
Whether it's working for a daily newspaper, helping produce
a local TV newscast, assisting an advertising agency account
team, or helping organize a public relations event, internships
in the Greater Columbia area or out-of-state help students
prepare for careers. Often, an academic internship
can lead to a permanent position with the same organization
after graduation.
There are approximately 100 businesses offering student
internships through the School.
Juniors and seniors are eligible for internships, which
carry three hours of academic credit and may be taken during
the fall or spring semesters or summer sessions. |

STUDY
ABROAD >>
Students are encouraged to complement their academic program
by participating in a study abroad program during their college
term.
The School provides a faculty study abroad advisor who develops,
implements and assists students with study abroad programs
in both general academic areas and in disciplines specific
to their major area of study.
The School has developed programs for our students in
Sevilla, Spain, with Griffith College in
Dublin, Ireland and at the Queensland University of Technology
in Brisbane, Australia.
In addition to year and semester-long programs, the School
offers shorter, but more intense Maymester abroad programs. |
