In May, 2007, Newsplex
Director Randy Covington delivered the opening presentation
in Amsterdam at Ifra's Digital Trend Day. A French blogger,
Luc Lugay, captured his presentation on a high-end camera
phone. The theme of the conference
was webTV.
Covington often speaks at Ifra events, bringing the perspectives
of the U.S. Newsplex to a worldwide audience. For the last
two years, he has served on the faculty at L'Universite d'Ete
(Summer University), a weeklong seminar on convergent journalism
primarily for French journalists. It is held at the Unisys
Training Centre in St. Paul de Vence, an artist village on
a small mountain outside Nice.
Also in 2007, Covington co-chaired a convergence conference
in Madrid with noted newspaper designer Mario Garcia Jr.
and he did a demonstration on the creation of multi-media
content in Paris at Ifra's annual Newsroom Summit.
