Nichols wins Henry T. Price
Award for Outstanding Student Copy Editing
Bethany
Nichols, a print journalism student in the School of
Journalism and Mass Communications, was recently awarded
the Henry T. Price Award for Outstanding Student Copy
Editing for the fall 2005 semester.
“I was incredibly honored to even be considered
for the award, much less receive it,” Nichols
said.
The Henry T. Price Award originated in 2003 to honor
the former associate dean who was best known
for his tough copy editing courses. Each fall and spring
semester, a committee comprised of the copy editing
professor, the head of the print sequence, the director
of the School of Journalism and Mass Communications
and dean of the College of Mass Communications and
Information Studies chooses the top student from
Journalism 333 (Copy Editing) to receive the $400 award.
Nichols, a junior from Summersville, W. Va.,
hopes to return to Summersville and work as a
copy editor or reporter for her hometown newspaper
after graduating next year.
