New York, New York: students visit
Big Apple
For the ninth consecutive year, USC advertising and public
relations students traveled to New York City to meet with
advertising and media professionals as part of Dr. Jon Wardrip's
"Field Study in Advertising" May Session class.
This year, the 15 students in the class were greeted by USC
grads at 8 of the 10 businesses visited. Two of the hosts
(Russ Mischner and Betsy Baugh) were once members of the "Field
Study" class.
Businesses visited and names of hosts for the trip were:
1. Good Housekeeping Institute (Sara Rad, director of brand
development).
2. Draft (senior account executive and USC grad Craig Schreiber).
3. KraftWorks (account executive and USC grad Emily Free).
4. Fortune magazine (deputy managing editor and USC grad Hank
Gilman).
5. MindShare (media planner and USC grad Caryn Barowski, and
media buyer and USC grad Betsy Baugh).
6. Ogilvy & Mather (art director and USC grad Julie Eyerman,
and human resources manager Meghan Lapides).
7. Conde Nast Traveler (advertising director and USC grad
Jason Wagenheim).
8. The Wall Street Journal (advertising services director
Kirk Carr).
9. NBC (executive producer/general manager, NBC News Productions/NBC
Studios East and USC grad Sharon Scott).
10. mcgarrybowen (account supervisor and USC grad Jill Ellwanger
and account executive and USC grad Russ Mischner).

the city over the weekend. Visits took place Monday through
