MAYMESTER CLASSES

Do you want to travel
for Maymester but you missed the deadline to sign up? It’s
not too late!
There are a few spots left in the following
courses:
- As part of Dean Bierbauer’s Media and Government class
you'll take a one-week trip to Washington where you will
meet some of the nation's key opinion leaders and
will visit the White House, the Supreme Court, Congress,
and national political party headquarters. The course number

- To enroll in the Atlanta Public Relations Experience,
please contact Professor Sisk at lisasisk@sc.edu. This
class travels to Atlanta for one week of the three-week May
session. You will visit public relations professionals
at CNN, The Georgia Aquarium, the Carter Center, Coca-Cola,
the High Museum of Art, among many others.
These classes both have additional fees above the cost of
May tuition.

If you are interested in staying on campus:
- Want to find your voice as a journalistic
storyteller? Then register for this Maymester Class:
Narrative Journalism, Jour. 563, Section 4, with
Professor Cecile Holmes. You will learn the basics
of telling stories across multiple media platforms from
a master storyteller who's written hundreds of newspaper
and magazine articles and two books. You will read and
review the work of
expert storytellers, while working on your own stories.
Moreover, you get to do all this at Newsplex, the
state-of-the-art newsroom of the College of Mass Communications
and Information Studies. Newsplex is located on the campus
of SCETV.
- Dr. Andrea Tanner is teaching Visual Accounts: Using
Multimedia to tell a Compelling Story. There are no
tests or
long lectures! Instead,
you will use a video camera
to shoot and edit video and tell a story for TV and
the Web. This class is open to all majors, but register
NOW to secure your spot! Space is limited. The course
is listed as J563M; Section 3.
