Tibshrany receives Alumni Service Award
The School of Journalism and Mass Communications
and Information Studies named Bud Tibshrany the 2007 recipient
of the inaugural Alumni Service Award. The award is given to
graduates of the school who have shown exemplary service to
the program or profession.
Tibshrany
retired in 2007 as Vice President for Public Affairs of Time
Warner Cable in Columbia. Tibshrany’s
43-year career in the cable industry began with the former
Cosmos Cablevision, based in Columbia in 1964. Throughout
his career, he managed cable systems in South Carolina, Florida,
North Carolina and Tennessee.
He is an active member of the Columbia community,
serving on the boards of more than 10 societies and philanthropic
organizations, including the Partnership Board of the School
of Journalism and Mass Communications.
Tibshrany is a former president of the South
Carolina Cable Television Association and the first person
in South Carolina to be inducted into the national organization
of Cable TV Pioneers. |
