SJMC to host convocation for new journalism students

The School of Journalism and Mass Communication will host a Convocation for new journalism students and their families on Sunday, Aug. 19, 2007, at 2 p.m. The convocation will be held in the auditorium of the Law Center which is located at 701 South Main Street.

Charles Bierbauer, dean of the College, and Dr. Shirley Staples Carter, director of the SJMC, will welcome the Class of 2011 to campus and introduce them to faculty, sequence directors, student services staff, and other key people in the School and College.

In addition, the convocation will include presentations by students who participated in the Maymester opportunities in Munich and Washington.

Light refreshments will be served immediately following the Convocation. The University's New Student Convocation will begin at 4 p.m., in the Carolina Coliseum.
