I learned too late of John's illness to visit him,
and too late of his passing to attend the service. But
he has been in our prayers for several weeks and will
remain so. During my brief stint on the faculty
at USC, John was the person I turned to for help, advice,
and just plain good conversation. He is the picture
in my head when someone asks me about the USC program,
and he's the reason I can answer with "terrific." My
condolences to his family, colleagues and students.

I just received the sad news of Jon Wardrip's death. My heartfelt
sympathy goes to his family. Having worked in the Dean's office
from 1990 until 2000, I came to know Jon very well. He was always
on the move and was very quick to notice the various things that staff
members did to make the college stand out. One instance I remember
is that he was very quick to notice when I changed
the way the Dean's List was displayed, and very quick to compliment
it to the Dean.
He was a very caring person, and I am sure he will
be remembered in the years to come as a great teacher
and friend.
