Students
honored at awards ceremony during I-Comm Week
Recognition of academic achievements and an address by a
nationally known journalist on the issue of media ethics highlighted
the annual Honors Night program of the School of Journalism
and Mass Communications Wed., Mar. 31.
Among the awards announced were: students inducted into
national academic and service honoraries, outstanding seniors
in each academic major, the Kappa Tau Alpha top scholar award,
awards from professional associations, seniors graduating
with honors and scholarship recipients for the coming year.
Outstanding seniors, as selected by faculty in the school,
were:

Amanda Taylor
Public Relations
Molly Walker
Walker also was named the top undergraduate scholar of the
year.
James Christian and Jonathan Dozier were named top master's
scholars and Francis Dardis and Samuel Mwangi were the top
doctoral scholars.
Keynote speaker for the event was Gerald M. Boyd, former
managing editor of The New York Times who currently writes
a nationally syndicated column for Universal Syndicate. Boyd
is also director of case studies for Columbia University's
Graduate School of Journalism. Boyd's lecture, "Challenges
in Changing Times: The World of Journalism Today," was
made possible by the Buchheit Family Endowment. |
