Al-Anzi, Jomah: 2002, Ph.D., is an assistant
professor at the Institute of Public Administration (IPA) in Riyadh,
Saudi Arabia. Jomah is a contributing writer to the IPA monthly
magazine and occasionally to the local newspapers.
Baugh, Betsy: 2002, BA, Advertising, is working for Mindshare
Worldwide, a media planning and buying agency, in New York. Betsy
is an assistant on the national television buying team where she
works on several accounts, including Orkin, Bandai, and Bristol.
Barowsky, Caryn: 2001, BA, Advertising, is an assistant
media planner with the Leslie Agency in Greenville, S.C. Caryn
joined the agency in January 2002 and has aided in media planning
and program development for a wide variety of clients including
South Carolina's tourism account (both consumer and international),
Mayfield Dairies, Carolina Pride, The Moore School of Business,
Berkeley Hall, Daniel Island, The Cliffs Communities, Palmetto
Bluff, The Myrtle Beach Convention Center, and Coats & Clark.
Bramer, Lynn: 2002, BA, Advertising, is the online content
manager at MacDonald Advertising Services. She is contributing
to the development of the company's U.S. and U.K. Web sites and
upcoming products. Lynn also offers freelance writing and design
services and volunteers as a marketing coordinator for the Oasis
Dancers belly dance troupe.
Charles, Vanessa: 2002, MMC, is the public relations officer
for the Hopi Tribe in Northern Arizona. Since taking up her duties
in November, Vanessa has been assisting the tribe with issue management
and the development of communication strategy primarily in the
areas of water, land, and economic development. She is also a
contributing writer to Tutuveni, the weekly Hopi newspaper, and
writes and produces a weekly radio broadcast on KUYI-FM, the tribe's
radio station.
Cook, Megan: 2001, BA, Advertising, is the marketing/trade
show coordinator for Reedy River Press Inc., publisher of PC Create
It and PC Teach It, two national magazines. Megan oversees all
aspects of trade show management as well as the implementation
of various promotions nationwide.
DeLuna, Sean: 2001, Advertising, is an account executive
with Magnani Continuum Marketing in Chicago, Ill. He is currently
working on the MacGregor Golf, YaYa! Bike, Giant Bicycles and
The Ticket Reserve accounts.
DeMillo, Gina: 2000, MMC, is the associate editor of Backpacker
magazine, part of Rodale Press in Emmaus, Pa. Gina has been with
the adventure travel magazine for almost three years and edits
four departments and two features each issue. Gorelik, Alexander:
2003, Ph.D., is a research associate with NFO Cfgroup, the largest
market and public opinion research group in Canada and one of
the largest in North America. Since joining the company, Alexander
has been involved in survey research projects with media, pharmaceuticals
and energy industries. Being employed in his favorite area of
research, Alexander enjoys living and working in downtown Toronto.
When he is not in the office, he works on his French and his finger-picking
acoustic guitar blues skills. So far, Alexander says he is not
doing too well with either.
Hamilton, Molly Dennis: 2000, MMC, is working for Royal
& SunAlliance (R&SA) in Charlotte, N.C., as a corporate
communications consultant. She supports the midsized commercial,
property and casualty insurance operations as a writer and strategic
communications consultant. R&SA is an international property
and casualty insurance carrier headquartered in London, with national
operations based in Charlotte.
Hays, Sarah: 2002, BA, Ad/PR, has joined the Richland
County Public Library as its public relations assistant.
Hines, Hunter: 2002, MMC, is the promotions manager for
the U.S. Tennis Association Southern Section in Atlanta. His duties
include developing and managing program, community and event promotions
across a nine-state region, including media, community, member
and sponsor relations. Hunter also develops and manages content
for the organization's Web site, www.southerntennis.com.
Hodges, B. Regan: 2000, MMC, is the administrator of meeting
services for the Food Marketing Institute, a trade association
in Washington, D.C.
Hutto, Melanie Lauren: 2001, BA, Advertising, began pursuing
an MMC degree with emphasis in print journalism at USC in August
2002.
Keeter, Brian: 2000, MMC, is now a vice president at Powell
Tate/Weber Shandwick Public Affairs in Washington, D.C.
Kinard, Shana: 2002, MMC, is a communications and development
specialist with the North Carolina Zoological Society. Her professional
responsibilities include maintaining media relations, writing
news releases and feature stories, enhancing community relations,
conducting marketing analyses, coordinating and organizing research
activities (for example, focus groups and surveys) developing
and implementing evaluation strategies for programming and writing
grant proposals. Shana is also a member of PRSA Tarheel Chapter.
Maxwell, Kate: 2000, MMC, is managing editor of The Philadelphia
Lawyer magazine, the official publication of the Philadelphia
Bar Association.
McAlpine, Katherine: 2002, MMC, says she spent "an
ill-fated nine months in sales/marketing at Arthur Andersen."
Katherine is now working for the Arts & Science Council in
Charlotte, N.C., as staff writer for various fund-raising, marketing/communications
and arts education projects.
McKelvey, Gina: 2002, BA, Advertising, is working at The
State newspaper as a retail account executive in the Lexington,
S.C., area. She recently became engaged to Brad Spehl.
Moca, Emilie Vanderwerff: 2002, BA, Public Relations,
is living in Washington, D.C., and working at National Media.
Mullen, David: 2001, BA, Public Relations, was recently
promoted to account executive at Cushman/Amberg Communications
in Chicago. David works on five client accounts including Home
Depot, Coldwell Banker, and Freeman United.
Nichols, Natasha: 2001, BA, Public Relations, is an advertising
sales coordinator with The National Journal in Washington, D.C.
Nneji, Emmanuel: 2002, Ph.D., is an assistant professor
at Utah State University in Logan, Utah.
Owens, W. LaNelle: 2001, MMC, is attending Howard University
School of Law. Lanelle was a summer associate with Dow, Lohnes
& Albertson (Washington, D.C.), one of the premier media law
firms in the country. She is currently a legal intern at the Federal
Communications Commission with Commissioner Kathleen Abernathy.
Peeler, Jodie: 2001, Ph.D., has been an assistant professor
of communications at Newberry College since August 2001. With
her colleague in the department, former USC College of Journalism
and Mass Communications classmate Steve Jackson, Peeler helped
redesign the curriculum of the Department of Communications and
is in charge of its new journalism track. Peeler also serves as
faculty adviser to @Newberry, the college's online magazine.
Rice, Ashley: 2000, BA, Public Relations, has joined the
Tanglewood, Texas, office of Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage
as a licensed Realtor.
Robinson, Sarah: 2001, MMC, is employed with Palmetto
Pride as its community outreach coordinator and Keep South Carolina
Beautiful coordinator.
Rogers, Mary Alice: 2000, MMC, has been promoted to public
relations director at the Community Blood Center of the Carolinas.
Simmons, Arlecia D.: 2001, MA, is an instructor of mass
communications at Claflin University in Orangeburg, S.C. After
graduation she received a one-year appointment as a lecturer of
communication studies at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte.
At Claflin, Arlecia advises the Mass Communications Club and is
preparing an application for a student chapter of the National
Association of Black Journalists. She has recently been named
a 2003 fellow of the American Society of Newspaper Editors Institute
for Journalism Excellence. The fellowship will allow her to return
to the newsroom as a reporter during the summer.
Smith, Gina: 2000, MA, is an education reporter for The
State newspaper in Columbia, S.C. Her current assignment includes
Richland School District 1 and Lexington School District 2 as
well as statewide education issues. Her work appears throughout
the daily newspaper and in the weekly Neighbors section.
Slack, Julie: 2001, BA, Public Relations, is a research
assistant for the Medical Affairs Committee of the South Carolina
Senate.
Stensland, Jeff: 2000, MMC, covers higher education for
The State newspaper in Columbia, S.C.
Thornton, Ginny: 2002, BA, Public Relations, is an account
coordinator with CNSG, an advertising agency in Columbia. She
is currently working on the South Carolina Education Lottery account.

Brown, Stephen: 1995, BA, Ad/PR, has joined Macquarium
Intelligent Communications as director of corporate communication.
The $22 million interactive agency specializes in corporate portals,
e-commerce, e-learning, and CGI animation.
Cline, Scott: 1994, BA, News Editing/Photo Journalism,
is a captain in the U.S. Army. He just completed a tour of duty
as commander of the HHC/5-101st Aviation Regiment at Fort Campbell,
Ky. After attending language school in Monterey, Calif., he will
begin an assignment as a foreign area officer in Paris.
Connolly, Christy Meadows: 1995, MMC, is the executive
cirector of The Fauquier Hospital Foundation in Warrenton, Va.
Christy initiated the hospital's annual campaign, which has grown
from raising $230,000 per year to $1 million in four years. Her
work also encompasses a large-scale campaign for a $50 million
construction project and raising awareness throughout the community
about the hospital and its services.
Das, Angshuman: 1997, MMC, is senior software engineer
at RS Software in Kolkata, India. Angshuman is a new-media designer
at the software services company, which has mostly international
clients. Angshuman also writes articles for technology publications
once in a while on a freelance basis and is lately even trying
his hand at fiction.
Fall, Lisa Poli: 1991, MA, earned her Ph.D. from Michigan
State University in 2000. Lisa earned the APR accreditation from
PRSA. She teaches public relations in the School of Journalism
and Public Relations at the University of Tennessee.
Huggins, J. C.: 1993, MMC, owns J.Creative Consulting,
an Internet communications firm, founded in 1996. The company,
based in Charlotte, N.C. helps clients ensure a sound strategic
plan and intuitive information architecture for their Internet,
intranet and extranet presences.
Knotts, Jim: 1996, MMC, is the director of Web communication
for Lockheed Martin Corp., which is the world's largest defense
contractor and a Fortune 100 company. Jim does strategic communication
planning to help integrate the Web into all aspects of Lockheed
Martin's corporate communications and other business functions.
He writes and coordinates policies, as well as advising others
throughout the business on how best to use the iInternet, intranet
and extranet presences.
Livingston, Lyndsey: 1990, BA, Ad/PR, has advanced another
leadership level in her Creative Memories career. She became a
unit leader in November 2002. Lyndsey started her home-based business
in 1999.
Lubin, Lisa: 1994, BA, Broadcasting, recently
won an Emmy for 190 North, a weekly entertainment show she produces
for ABC 7 television in Chicago.
O'Connell, Mike: 1996, MMC, runs two businesses
in the Chicago area, O'Connell Designs, a Web design company,
and Mike O'Connell Wildlife & Nature Photography, a limited-edition
photography company. O'Connell also recently taught Web site design
for two years at Oakton Community College in Des Plaines, Ill.
When there's enough snow, he's a cross-country ski patroller for
the National Ski Patrol and a volunteer carnivore tracker for
the state of Wisconsin.
O'Sheal, Jonathan: 1994, BA, Ad/PR, began freelancing
and consulting in May 2001.
Pritchard, Emily King: 1999, MMC, is a communications
consultant with Royal & SunAlliance in Charlotte, N.C. Emily
got married in 2001.
Solmonson, Steve: 1992, MMC, is director of
communications for the Carlson Marketing Group in Minneapolis.
The Carlson Marketing Group is the world's leading relationship
marketing company, with international capabilities that span 20
countries. Steve recently attended the 2002 PRSA Silver Anvil
Awards celebration, where his company received a Silver Anvil
for the best PR campaign in the Special Events and Observances
category.
Speelmon, Jim: 1996, MMC, is a global programs
director for Euro RSCG Worldwide responsible for the Intel account.
Based in Sydney, Australia, he coordinates the development and
implementation of worldwide online marketing programs. Jim also
leads the online/offline programs integration team in the Asia
Pacific region. He's a visiting lecturer at the University of
Technology, Sydney.
Watson, Anja Eisiminger: 1991, BA, Ad/PR, is
vice president and marketing communications manager with Wachovia
Corp.'s corporate marketing civision. Anja has one son, Spencer,
who was 2 on March 5.

Bates, Stephanie Wiggins: 1986, BA, Ad/PR,
Stephanie is a real estate appraiser with the Ackerman Appraisal
Co. of Irmo, S.C.
Campbell, Reba: 1983, BA, Ad/PR, has been appointed
to serve a three-year term on the national PBS Communication Council.
Reba is the vice president of communications and government relations
at South Carolina Educational Television.
Conroy, Kathleen: 1984, BA, News Editing, has
joined Charlotte Parent magazine as an associate editor.
DeWitt, David: 1983, BA, News-Editorial, is
returning to the Arts section of The New York Times after spending
nearly a year on the paper's post 9/11 coverage. His recently
produced plays include She's at Home, Mae and Her Stories, and
What I Missed in the '80s.
Hardwick, Erin: 1982, BA, Ad/PR, was self-employed
as the owner of EH&A, an association management company, for
more than seven years. She recently sold her business and accepted
a position as executive director of the South Carolina Association
of Nonprofit Organizations. SCANPO has more than 525 member organizations
statewide.
Hughes, Howard: 1982, MMC, was promoted from
sergeant to lieutenant of criminal investigations at the Richland
County Sheriff's Department in Columbia, S.C., in July 2002. Hughes
joined the department in 1983.
Newton, Brian: 1986, BA, News Editing, is associate
director of career services at East Carolina University. Brian
earned his Master of Education degree in 1989.
Scully, Kevin M.: 1982, BA, Ad/PR, is Director,
integrated marketing communications for IBM Corp. Global Services.
He says he is "anxiously awaiting that USC National Championship."
Talley, Kimberly: 1986, Broadcasting, has joined
the Los Angeles office of Baker & Hostetler, a national law
firm. Kimberly will specialize in labor relations, equal employment,
and wrongful discharge matters. She received her law degree from
Harvard Law School.

the Order of the Palmetto, South Carolina's highest civilian honor,
for her work on the "Believe in a Girl" campaign of
the Girl Scout Council of the Congaree Area. Ann is the director
of new business development with the Semaphore advertising agency
in Columbia, S.C.
Broom, G.F. (Frank): 1973, BA, Print Journalism,
has been the city manager of Camden, S.C., for the past 11 years.
He previously served as the West Columbia city administrator and
the Lexington County administrator.
Baker, Bob: 1970, BA, Broadcast Journalism,
is the vice president for business and employee services and senior
lender with the Commonwealth Corp. in Boston.
Daniel, James: 1978, BA, Broadcast Journalism,
was recently named executive director of the Hampton County Economic
Development Commission. James has served on the Hampton Town Council
for 10 years. He spent 22 years as assistant manager and news
director at WBHC Radio in Hampton, S.C.
Lehmann, J. Charles: 1974, BA, Ad/PR, has earned
the certified management executive designation, the highest educational
achievement in the convention and visitor bureau industry. He
is executive director of the Palm Beach County Tourist Development
Council in Florida.
Morrow, Mark: 1975, BA, Journalism, has been
named manager of acquisitions and development for the American
Society for Training and Development. Mark joined ASTD in 1997
as a senior acquisitions editor. He is also the author of Images
of the Southern Writer, published by the University of Georgia
Press in 1987.
Nivens, David: 1971, BA, News Editing, is a
staff reporter for the High Point Enterprise in High Point, N.C.
Weidman, Larry: 1976, BA, Broadcast Journalism,
is the co-founder of Contemporary Christian Radio, WGRC-FM, which
serves a 15 county region of central Pennsylvania. The station
recently received an award for the Best Regularly Scheduled Newscast
from the Pennsylvania Associated Press.
