Holmes scholarship honors South Carolina journalist and J-School alumna
There is usually a great life story behind the names that are memorialized in scholarships. The name often holds remembrances of a person’s life work and life journey-- the very core of what inspired and motivated the individuals whose name an annual scholarship bears. For the Holmes family, honoring Anne Keene Searson Holmes with a journalism scholarship is a fitting memorial to a woman who loved writing and South Carolina so much.

Strickland named SC Anchor of the Year
Darci Strickland was named South Carolina Anchor of the Year at the Star Awards presented by the South Carolina Association of Broadcasters on August 13.

USC names J-School alumni Mark Buyck a 2005 Distinguished Alumni Award recipient
Mark W. Buyck Jr., a 1956 graduate of the J-School, received one of USC’s Distinguished Alumni Awards at the Carolina Alumni Association’s annual class reunion and alumni awards party Friday, October 21.

College kicks off new Alumni Society
The kick-off of the College's unique Alumni Society proved to be a huge success over Homecoming weekend. More than 100 people gathered on Gibbes Green Friday, Oct. 21 to celebrate.
