INTERCOM
ONLINE!
I-COMM WEEK: MARCH 29-APRIL 2
Dear alumni and friends:
We want to reach you faster, more frequently and more efficiently.
So we're taking Intercom online. Ok, it's about time. After
all, we do preach media convergence.
Many alumni have told us they'd welcome more regular updates
from the School of Journalism and Mass Communications. We'll
be using this format to send you e-alerts about activities
in the school and the College of Mass Communications and Information
Studies. Many have also told us they still like to have something
tangible they can take in hand. We plan to revamp the InterCom's
newsletter format to a heftier annual magazine.
We've been able to put this list together from the e-mail
addresses you provided to the Harris Alumni Directory project.
Thanks for participating and helping us get our rolls up to
date. Not all alumni responded, so we're looking for additions
to the list. If you do not want to receive these alerts, you
may opt out. Of course, we hope you will want to stay abreast
of developments.
Here's one we think you might like to put on your calendar.
The college will hold its first I-Comm Week from March 29-April
2.
I-Comm? It represents the combination of the college's two
schools-information and communication. If you'd rather call
them the library school and the journalism school, that's
fine with us. We do, too. READ

During I-Comm week we'll feature a different aspect of the
college each day through lectures, seminars, panels and a
career day. Many of these, such as the Keynote Address by
former New York Times Managing Editor Gerald Boyd on March
31 and the library school Deans' Lecture by University of
Pittsburgh ethicist Stephen Almagno on April 1, will be open
to the public. The full calendar is on the college Web
site.
Our e-alerts will also steer you to an alumni oriented Intercom
page on the school's web site. We hope you find this a better
way to stay in touch. Of course, it's a two-way virtual street.
We want to hear from you, too.
