STUDENT
MEDIA
Student Media at the University of South Carolina provides
students and other members of the USC community print and
broadcast outlets which serve as forums of free expression,
the exchange of ideas, and the dissemination of news, as
well as showcases for creative work and vehicles for entertainment.
The student-run media at USC include The Gamecock newspaper, Garnet & Black Quarterly magazine, and WUSC
90.5 FM radio station.
The School of Journalism and Mass Communications provides
another publication and news programming for WCFG campus
television and WUSC.
The Carolina Reporter is the weekly newspaper published by the print/news-editorial
senior semester students. Senior semester broadcast students
produce a daily news program, Carolina News, for both television
and radio.

Online is a Web site published by students in
the School of Journalism and Mass Communications electronic
senior semester. It contains Quick Time video of
each day's main stories.
All students are invited to participate in Student Media regardless of year in school or previous experience. Working
with Student Media and CJMC media also helps students develop
skills in leadership, management, human relations, and fiscal
management. In addition to learning these skills, many students
have used their experience with Student Media and the School
of Journalism and Mass Communications media to earn internships
and jobs following graduation.
Student Media is located on the third and fourth floors
of the Russell House. Main office (room 331) hours are 8:30
a.m. to 5 p.m. M-F during the academic year, and 8 a.m. to
4:30 p.m. during summer sessions.
