STUDENT MEDIA

Student Media at the University of South Carolina provides students and other members of the USC community print and broadcast outlets which serve as forums of free expression, the exchange of ideas, and the dissemination of news, as well as showcases for creative work and vehicles for entertainment.

The student-run media at USC include The Gamecock newspaper, Garnet & Black Quarterly magazine, and WUSC 90.5 FM radio station.

The School of Journalism and Mass Communications provides another publication and news programming for WCFG campus television and WUSC.

The Carolina Reporter is the weekly newspaper published by the print/news-editorial senior semester students. Senior semester broadcast students produce a daily news program, Carolina News, for both television and radio.

CarolinaNews Online is a Web site published by students in the School of Journalism and Mass Communications electronic senior semester.  It contains Quick Time video of each day's main stories.

All students are invited to participate in Student Media regardless of year in school or previous experience. Working with Student Media and CJMC media also helps students develop skills in leadership, management, human relations, and fiscal management. In addition to learning these skills, many students have used their experience with Student Media and the School of Journalism and Mass Communications media to earn internships and jobs following graduation.

Student Media is located on the third and fourth floors of the Russell House. Main office (room 331) hours are 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. M-F during the academic year, and 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. during summer sessions.
