The National Lesbian & Gay Journalists Association's Leroy F. Aarons Scholarship Award

The National Lesbian & Gay Journalists Association's Leroy F. Aarons Scholarship Award for the 2007-2008 academic year will provide up to $5,000 in tuition funding to a lesbian, gay, bisexual or transgender (LGBT) student who plans a career in journalism and is committed to furthering NLGJA’s mission of fair and accurate coverage of the LGBT community. Selection will be based on journalistic and scholastic ability. Applicants also must demonstrate an awareness of the issues facing the LGBT community and the importance of fair and accurate news coverage. The recipient will be honored on March 15, 2007 at Headlines & Headliners: NLGJA’s New York Benefit to be held at ABC News’ Times Square Studios. Travel and accommodations will be provided.
