reconnects with alumni in Charlotte
The School of Journalism and Mass Communications held it’s
fourth “Reconnect” event at GMR Marketing in Charlotte,
N.C. on Thursday, February 9.
More than 20 J-School alumni living in the Charlotte
area joined Dean Charles Bierbauer, the College’s new
development director Cindy Kellett and assistant director of
development Elaine Taylor to share information about the college’s
new Alumni Society and plans for relocating to the LeConte
Building on Gibbes Green by 2009.
Alumni couples Mike and Kim
Boykin of Charlotte and Sig and Judy Huitt of Rock Hill hosted
the alumni reception. |
“Our
gathering last week was great. It was so much fun to see
such a wide range of alumni, who live and work here in Charlotte,
enjoying each others' company. The night made me even more
excited for the J-School's move to LeConte and how our Alumni
Society can keep this a priority for the school. It was a
great night, and I hope that we can have many, many more
in the future,” said Allison Aiken,
a 2000 news editing graduate of the J-School. Aiken is currently
an assistant account executive for Trellis Communications
in Charlotte.
“The Reconnect events serve two purposes, allowing
us to keep alumni up to date on school and USC developments
and letting alumni network with their colleagues,” said
Dean Bierbauer. “We know you’re not alone out
there, but this helps all of us discover where you are and
what you’re doing.”
